About solar energy

uemg_solar_1Solar (or solar photovoltaic) energy is energy received by the earth from the sun and converted into electricity using technology such as photovoltaic (PV) panels on rooftops. Solar is viewed as a clean, low cost renewable energy source.

  • The solar installation process for UE customers

  • Step 1

Contact an electricity retailer to discuss pricing (tariff) options. It is important to note there may be costs associated if a bi-directional meter exchange is required. Please request further information from your retailer.

  • Step 2

Contact a registered solar panels provider to organise panel installation. A list of accredited installers can be found on the Clean Energy Council website.

  • Step 3

Following installation of your panels, there are two forms you need to fill out.

Form 1 – contact us and fill out the Photovoltaic (solar) generator connection form.

Form 2 – contact your retailer and fill out a request for a solar compatible/bi-directional meter and confirm your new tariff agreement.

  • Step 4

Following receipt and processing of both forms, we will progress the installation of your new meter within 25 business days.
